About her
Hello. I’m Colleen and I live in Beaconsfield. I have 2 beautiful grown up daughters who stay with me from time to time. These days I mostly share my home with a shaggy dog and a couple of cats - all abandoned by the kids when they disappeared off to Uni. I didn’t see that one coming.
I’m semi retired. I used to work in finance. Then a couple of years ago I gave it all up to do a degree in STS at UCL (go google!) Hugely rewarding, but god it was hard work! Late night essay crises, the works. I’m doing a couple of voluntary roles now and trying not to let myself get lured back into spreadsheets.
I’m on the quieter side - can you be a loud introvert? That might be me. Witty in a one liner sort of way - not enough material for my own show. I like to think I’m reasonably intelligent although I still can’t work out which way the blue flare thing on Apple Maps goes, so maybe not. I’ve definitely got a geeky streak though - current affairs and science mainly.
I’m a big fan of live music especially at Ronnie Scotts or the Union Chapel. And an even bigger fan of books. I’m having a non- fiction phase lately. I love cycling and skiing - enthusiastically average at both! Beaches are great too but for walking on. If you catch me sunbathing, something’s gone wrong - check my pulse. And, honestly, I hate the gym. But I do it. It’s sort of compulsory past 50 isn’t it.
That’s me. Or a bit of me anyway. There’s more. I probably need to edit but I’m going to cross my fingers and upload anyway. Photos all recent and look like me - some on better days than others - I know. That's not my dog by the way ... spotted in a local pub. Reminds me of Brian May!

Gently intelligent would be good - thoughtful and reflective. Willing to figure out the teamwork needed to make a relationship thrive. Maybe on the quieter side too - not loud and showy-offy. A slightly lefty liberal who's never going to forget 48/52, and who doesn't confuse microchips and vaccines.
Happy to share the books, podcasts and substacks you're into, walks, good food and travelling with me. Maybe even cycling and skiing if you don't mind snails pace!
