About him
A kind, young at heart, affectionate and sociable guy with a keen sense of humour and an appreciation from personal experience of what makes a long term relationship work.
I travelled widely as a young deck officer in the merchant navy before embarking on a long career with an international technology company (where I spent some time living and working in the USA). I also ran my own consulting firm before retiring. Away from work, I've tackled many home renovations including making an old run down cottage in France into a cosy holiday home.
I enjoy a balance of physical, creative and social activities. One of my favourite active pastimes is playing short mat bowls ("ask me later") as we have a great club here in our beautiful Somerset village. On the creative front I've started to dabble a little in photography and sketching. I enjoy stand-up comedy and am a really big music lover - both live and recorded - with an eclectic taste. This extends to a little dancing which I'd love to learn to do properly. I maintain an interest in current affairs, science and business as well as trying to improve my cooking repertoire. That said, I'm always open to learning and experiencing new things!
So in a nutshell you could say "he seems like a nice guy with some interesting life experiences, enjoys cooking, likes travelling and socialising and is handy with a drill!" :-)
Looking forward, I'd like to enjoy all the things life has to offer with that someone special. This could be travelling - impromptu breaks, winters away to enjoy the sun and beach or exploring exciting destinations - as well as sharing each others passions and the intimacies of a relationship.

About his ideal match
I'm ultimately looking for that soulmate, someone who I could form a sincere and affectionate long term relationship with. Mutual attraction - both physical and emotional - will clearly be a starting point and while there are core attributes I value I'd hate to be prescriptive on what makes the ideal. Perhaps we might have differing interests and it would be wonderful to share our passions and learn from each other.
