About him
I‘m an honest chap and my interests include walking, cycling, going to the theatre, cooking, music, meeting with friends, enjoying weekends away and holidays. Until recently I had a lovely border terrier called Bonnie as a companion.
My career was as in financial management and engineering design (studied in Bristol and Durham) After retiring from Newcastle upon Tyne overseeing the build of ships for the RN, I taught business studies in Bath for a couple of years. I then opted for a complete change by taking a course in hand crafted furniture for a year. I had always enjoyed DIY and making things with my hands. For several years I made a range of furniture in oak, for myself, friends and my children.
I had a very happy marriage and sadly became a widower 13 years ago. I have three children and four grandchildren from 2 years upwards and see them as often as possible. I have a happy lifestyle and ideally hope to find a new partner and soulmate one day.
I have a wide range of friends who I see regularly. I am a spiritual person and attend the Quakers. I sing in a choir where I am the treasurer. I also occasionally play the piano. I feel that I am quite creative enjoying woodwork, drawing and painting, mainly landscapes on canvas in acrylics. I also have a considerate and understanding attitude to life
I enjoy travel in this country and abroad and cycled 40Km each day from village to village in Brittany a couple of years ago and last year walked in The Gower, visited Gran Canaria and walked in the Cairngorms and the Outer Hebrides. Please do not be put off by my age. I have no health problems, I eat healthily (enjoy cooking), drink occasionally, have never smoked and I am pretty fit.
